Clonakilla Viognier Nouveau

Only 1 left in stock

Clonakilla needs little introduction. Established by Dr John Kirk in 1972 as one of the first commercial vineyards in the Canberra District, Clonakilla shot to fame off the back of their flagship Shiraz Viognier wines in the 1990s and have not looked back.

The Viognier Nouveau is made in a more approachable style perhaps than the revered Clonakilla Viognier, with no oak and no malolactic fermentation taking place leaving the wine crisp and fresh whilst retaining an abundance of varietal typicity.

Phil’s notes
“Pours almost water white in the glass with florals (elderflower, white blossoms) being the first aromas leading into musk, white stonefruit, gooseberry and banana. The palate is sublime: dry, crunchy acid, medium body and intense green apple, nashi pear and lime zest flavours. Some more florals and stonefruit on the the long, lingering finish. It’s an outstanding representation of Viognier in a new world style. Take a bow, Mr Kirk.”
