Description
Tasmania has long been a source of premium quality Riesling. This classic example sources grapes from Meadowbank’s two blocks – an old vine block planted in 1974 and a newer block planted in 2005. The grapes are picked whole bunch, pressed then wild fermented in a mixture of stainless steel and seasoned French barriques (50/50), bringing a mixture of freshness and texture, then matured on lees for three months prior to bottling. A perfect balance between texture, acidity, sweetness, and purity of fruit. Simply stunning.
Phil’s notes: It’s not hard to get excited by Tasmania with wines like this. This is a seriously good Riesling. Lots of lifted floral aromas and lemon peel with a tell-tale wet stone minerality into a generous palate of lemon and lime juice, jasmine flowers and a musky-steely edge to it. Mouthwatering acidity and a bloody long finish complete the package. Simply outstanding.
