Being the youngest of our Chardonnay’s this one has fresh, enticing citrus and stone fruit characters followed by a  nutty, complex finish. With age it will develop more creaminess, butter and caramel characteristics.

The fruit for this wine was picked in February 2018 and fermented in stainless steel tanks until 4 Baume, then transferred to barrel for completion of ferment and maturation. French and American oak hogsheads were used with fortnightly lees stirring. After 8 months maturation in oak, the finished wine was bottled in November 2018.

Phil’s notes
There are three classic varieties in the Hunter. Semillon and Shiraz are the obvious ones, but often overlooked is the strength of the region’s Chardonndays. This is a great, almost old-school, style of Chardy without overdoing things. The use of high quality oak is prevalent with some great butter and cream characters, but underneath that is a varietal pureness – white peach, golden delicious apples and decidedly medium bodied. It’s oaky, but understated. Great finish.
